Who joins IAA

Four kinds of agents, one reason.

Production requirements, carrier appointments and contingency thresholds are built for large agencies. IAA pools the volume of hundreds of member agencies so a one-person shop is underwritten like a book worth millions.

  • 01

    Captive agents going independent

Walk into your first independent year with 40+ markets already appointed and a rater on day one.

  • 02

    Established independent agencies

Add the markets you are missing, and count your volume toward contingencies you could not reach alone.

  • 03

    Brand-new agency startups

Carrier access without the production requirements, plus financing paths to get the doors open.

  • 04

    Agents already in a cluster

Compare a published 90/10 split, no buyout clause and no exit fee against what you signed.

You own the book. All of it. Forever.

Every carrier contract runs through IAA, and your agency stays 100% yours. There is no buyout clause and no exit fee. If you ever leave, you leave with your customers.

  • All company contracts run through IAA; the agency remains 100% yours.
  • No buyout clauses and no exit fees, from day one.
  • Perpetuation help when you are ready to sell, including financing for the buyer.

Explanation of benefits

Fourteen reasons agencies stay.

The full membership list, as IAA states it to every prospective member agency.

  1. 01

    Retained ownership

Even though all company contracts are through IAA, the agency is still 100% owned by you.

  2. 02

    Increased markets

Through IAA we are able to represent more companies by spreading the production requirements.

  3. 03

    Increased contingencies

With all of IAA's agency premium volume counting toward contingencies, the percentages paid by the companies are significantly higher.

  4. 04

    More stable contingencies

With a large premium volume at a company, one shock loss will not have as dramatic an effect on the loss ratio.

  5. 05

Reduced fear of losing a company

Companies are less likely to terminate an agency contract behind large production volume. IAA has a book of one million dollars plus with most of our companies.

  6. 06

    Preferred agency contracts

As an alliance, IAA can negotiate different contracts on the strength of its volume: better commission and contingency levels, other benefits, and more underwriting consideration.

Service center option

Hand off service without handing off the relationship.

A full support department handles personal and commercial lines service. Customers call your number, forwarded to the service center, or the 800 line. Either way the phone is answered generically — your client believes they are speaking with your agency.

Technology

EZLynx and comparative rating at network pricing.

IAA has negotiated reduced pricing on the EZLynx agency management system — well below what a single agency can obtain on its own.

The included comparative rater quotes up to 36 carriers and more than 100 plans across auto and homeowners.

Compensation structure

Published, not negotiated behind a phone call.

Members are paid as independent agencies, directly by IAA, on the same terms as our carrier contracts.

  • One-time joining fee

    $5,000

Paid once, at the start of the agreement.

  • Monthly maintenance

    $200

Begins 90 days after the agreement start date.

  • Standard split

Your share of commission on business you write and service.

  • After $250K revenue
